Simple, hassle-free licensing is what we’re all about. We license our video clips in on of two ways: our very own Videvo Standard License, or the Creative Commons 3.0 license.
The Videvo Standard License allows you to download clips for free for use in any project, forever. The only thing we ask is that you do not make the clips available for download elsewhere. The advantage of this license is that you do not need to credit the author of the clip(s) in your project, saving you time and valuable space on your video timeline – hoorah!
The Creative Commons 3.0 license allows you to use the downloaded clips in any project, providing you credit the original author in your video project. Licensing information is available on the download page for each clip. We love CC 3.0!

Videvo was set up in July 2012 as a resource for filmmakers from all backgrounds to have access to a large selection of high quality stock footage and motion graphics without the cost. Since then the website has been through many stages of development, with a number of new features added, including user accounts and video production forum. Our small team based in Oxford UK manage the site on a day-to-day basis, uploading clips, adding meta information, moderating user uploads and providing support to our users. If you’re interested in working for us drop us a line, we’d love to hear from you! As well as being a great resource for free stock video clips, we also provide tutorials and blog posts on a range of topics, including kit reviews, editing and filming tips and industry news. You can also ask for help and advice from our staff and other members through the Videvo forums. The forums are also a great place to plug your own work for feedback from our friendly community of video makers. To get started downloading free clips, you can simply browse our stock footage library or search for a specific clip. Once you find something you like, login or sign up for a free account (our membership is free and always will be). Once logged in, you will be able to download unlimited free clips straight to your desktop. You have the option to share your experience via Facebook or Twitter, which we hugely appreciate, but if you’d rather not we wont hold it against you. The majority of our clips are provided in full HD (a small selection of clips on the site are 720p HD). This means you don’t need to worry about small resolution sizes in your productions, allowing you to focus on making great videos. As well as downloading our free video clips, you can also upload your own clips to Videvo for others to use in their own projects. All you need is an account and you’re ready to contribute your own clips. Not only is this a great way to promote your own work, but you’ll also be helping other video producers create fresh, interesting content. You can choose to license your clips in two ways, either our Videvo Standard License or Creative Commons 3.0. One thing we’re often asked is how can we afford to supply such a large selection of free stock footage clips? This is a very good question and it’s something we even ask ourselves sometimes. Currently we have partnerships with stock footage agencies and 3rd party advertisers to promote their services on Videvo. It isn’t pretty, but it means we can continue to make developments to the site, add more free stock videos and generally provide an awesome service. It’s what pays for the whole party. We’re proud of the service we provide our users and we’re constantly aiming to improve it, so if you see something that you think could be improved, or something isn’t quite working as it should, please let us know. You can write to us at firstname.lastname@example.org or use our contact form on videvo.net/contact.
